Reconstruction

Our ORIONTM software is a fully automated method for extracting three-dimensional neuron cell morphology from multiple 3D images stacks from optical imaging. ORION TM eliminates human interaction generating rapid and accurate morphological reconstructions. ORION TM accounts for typical experimental conditions in optical imaging such as: i) background denoising, ii) automatic pipette removal, and iii) aligning multiple overlapping image stacks. The output is a geometrical model of the neuron cell in terms of cylinders, where the morphological reconstruction appropriate in constraining compartmental models for simulation environments. Figure 1 presents an automatic three-dimensional morphological reconstruction of a CA1 pyramidal cell.
