Notification of Event Postponement
Greetings to all:
In the days since the new year began, the University of Houston has continued to monitor the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Houston, which now accounts for 95% of all COVID-19 infections in the U.S. While Omicron is believed to be less severe, its infection rate is still a cause for serious concern.
In light of this information and after careful consideration, the organizing committee has decided to postpone the full “Healings Arts Houston: Innovations in Arts and Health” symposium scheduled for January 20 – 22, 2022. The symposium will be rescheduled for Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2022.
All current symposium registrations will be honored for the new dates. We will discuss further with conference speakers their contributions to the program, in light of the rescheduled dates; we welcome all speakers to plan to present their work on the rescheduled symposium and hope that they will be able to do so. Additional information on the rescheduled symposium will follow in the coming months
In lieu of the full “Innovations in Arts and Health” symposium next week, please join us instead for a free, livestreamed “Healing Arts Houston Launch Event” featuring selected panels and performances, Friday, January 21st from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The Launch Event will initiate the Healing Arts dialogue in Houston and offer a lively preview of what is to come in the September symposium. The complete program for the Launch Event is forthcoming. The link to the free livestream will be emailed to you before Friday, January 21.
We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause, but we are confident that this is the right decision, in light of the COVID transmission data in the city of Houston. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and we are looking forward to the Launch Event in January and the full “Healing Arts Houston: Innovations in Arts and Health” symposium in September. In the meantime, please stay safe and look out for more information from us in the months ahead.
